The fourth meeting of the China-Peru Joint Committee on Agriculture was held in Weifang, Shandong Province, on July 2. Co-chaired by Vice Minister Ma Youxiang and Angel Manero Campos, Minister for Agricultural Development and Irrigation of Peru, the meeting focused on in-depth exchanges on mutual market access for agricultural products, sustainable agricultural development, and the regulatory system for organic products.

Vice Minister Ma highlighted that the strategic guidance from both countries' leaders provides a solid political foundation for the China-Peru agricultural partnership. The bilateral agricultural mechanism runs smoothly, with the joint committee having held three successful meetings. Technology exchanges have been effective and the two countries have continuously enhanced mutually beneficial cooperation and research on germplasm. Economic and trade cooperation has continuously deepened, with annual agricultural trade value remaining steady at more than US $2 billion for the past three years. China stands ready to work with Peru to explore more new opportunities for win-win cooperation while consolidating existing cooperation.

Minister Manero spoke highly of the friendly agricultural relations between China and Peru, expressing Peru's intention to prioritize further exchanges with China in areas such as personnel training and potato germplasm, and to learn from Chinas experiences in mitigating agricultural disasters.
