DATE: 2024-02-21      SOURCE: MARA

Ma Youxiang, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, met with Istvan Nagy, Minister of Agriculture of Hungary, in Budapest on Jan. 24. Views on deepening China–Hungary cooperation in agriculture and rural affairs have been exchanged.

Vice Minister Ma said that through the joint efforts of both countries, the agricultural cooperation mechanism has functioned smoothly, while economic and trade investments have expanded gradually, and S&T interchange has produced positive outcomes. China-Hungary relations have improved as a result of bilateral agricultural cooperation. Vice Minister Ma put up three proposals to strengthen China–Hungary agricultural cooperation: 1) Continue to leverage the China–Hungary Promotion Center for Agricultural Science and Technology Cooperation, and enhance the exchange of animal and plant germplasm resources and collaborative R&D in deep processing technology for agricultural products; 2) Plan and implement more “small yet smart” projects, tap the cooperative potential in areas such as beekeeping, and improve the sense of achievement of the two peoples; and 3) Boost economic and trade investment and cooperation in agriculture, and set up platforms for exchanges between enterprises of both sides

Minister Nagy expressed admiration for Hungary and China's agriculture cooperation. He said Hungary stands ready to work with China to strengthen and advance economic, trade and S&T exchange in agriculture between the two countries, and achieve more tangible results through bilateral agricultural cooperation.
